Book on the nightstand waiting for me...
Question for the above poster: What did you think about the depictation of the Alaska village scenes? This made me uncomfortable with buying the book for my high schools? - dgrediagin@bssd.org
*To continue with the Battle Books leading us to other books, last year's "Somebody Else Child"
Specials by Scott Westerfeld - The final book in the Uglies trilogy. Nearly everyone in the middle and high schools is waiting for this book! I need to finish it but don't have much time to read!
Running with Scissors by Augesten Burroughs - No matter what your childhood was like, this will make you think it was idyllic! I don't really care for it but at the same time I am too intrigued to stop reading! How can anyone have lived like this and grown up to tell the tale. - Tiki Levinson
I used ListenAlaska to download two books: "My Life in France" by Julia Child and "Julie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen" by Julie Powell. I knew nothing about Julia Child but found her story fascinating. Julie Powell cooked through Julia Child's first work "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" to find meaning in her life, then blogged about it and got a book deal - so it worked for her! Out of curiosity, I just borrowed the same book and a DVD set of Julia Child's 1960's cooking show, although I don't really plan to cook anything! Mary Hacker
